The Haynie Public Library and Workforce
Oklahoma held a job search workshop on July 25 at the library.
Kim Brewer of Workforce Oklahoma led the workshop, which covered using job
search tools, including the Workforce Web site, writing an effective
resume and preparing for interviews.
The secret to finding a job and acing an interview, Brewer said, is confidence.
“Be confident in your strengths and it will show,” Brewer said. “Once you convince yourself you can do the job, you should be able to convince anyone.”
Brewer offered several other job search tips, and participants each received a packet of helpful information about using online search tools, writing a resume and answering interview questions.
The Haynie Library has a computer reserved for job searches, assistant librarian Carol Hunter said. The library also has several books on writing resumes and preparing for interviews.
“We just got in three new books on resumes and interviews,” Hunter said. “We have people come in fairly often to work on writing resumes or to look for a job, so we want to be able to offer them as much help as we can.”
The information packets provided at the workshop are also available at the library.
